Birds of Central America

On September 15th, I shared "The Mushroom Pickers of Independence," which were 5 countries that—according to history—declared their independence at the same time:

  • Guatemala
  • El Salvador
  • Honduras
  • Nicaragua
  • Costa Rica

However, Central America is made up of 7 countries, Belize was missing (Independence November 21, 1981) and Panama (Independence November 28, 1821), although it was strange to share it on September 15, the plan was always to do them all. To have all of Central America.

While I was reading and researching, I thought it was really cute that Panama had a bird of prey as its national bird, and that Mexico, which isn't part of Central America—I feel there are many things that unite us—also had a bird of prey as its national bird. So I came to the conclusion, "How lovely, we're surrounded by birds of prey!" And just because of that idea, I wanted to add Mexico. After painting several birds, one extra wouldn't make much difference.

So, this first collection ended up with 8 representatives:
